Ida-go to Idaho

The kids and I have been sick for about 2 weeks now. For the first week we just rested but the second week we had a lot to do. First of all we had tickets to go on a train at the Heber Valley Railroad with our homeschool group. So we went on Thursday being sick and ended up being in the middle of a windy snow storm. We had fun on the train but afterwards we all felt worse from being so cold while we were already sick.

Then the next day we had to go to Idaho. Felipe had a physics conference in Pocatello and we had already planned to drive up separately as a family. So we went even though we were feeling pretty bad still. We drove in a big windy rain storm.

Felipe was at the conference on Friday and all day Saturday I just couldn't sit in a hotel with 4 kids all day so we decided to get out for awhile even though we were sick and even though it was very cold.

First we went to the Pocatello Zoo. We were the only people there besides the zoo employees. It was a nice little zoo but it is kind of funny that all of the animals there are native to Idaho. I think that some people put up fences and ended up fencing in some animals and then decided to make a zoo out of it. It was so cold though and we couldn't feel our hands. They had a big play place with a big tree house and a slide. The kids wanted to go explore it so I let them. Below you can see the picture of the big slide. Well the Goo was going to be the first one down it. As he was sliding down both he and and I screamed at the same time because in the midst of his sliding we both noticed that at the end on the slide was a huge puddle of dirty green water. Neither of us could stop him in time and he slid right into it and got soaked. So we left and we got him changed into dry clothes in the car.

Next we decided to go to Idaho State University. We wanted to see the Natural History Museum. We were excited to go somewhere that had heating. We got there and took a picture in front of the sign. Then we went in only to see a big mess with a sign that read - Closed for remodeling.

The kids ran around a little and we visited the bookstore. Then we went back to the hotel to get warm

The girls bought these sunglasses at the zoo. They break just about every 5 minutes.

So the kids just jumped around in the hotel. We got home today. We went to church on the way home in a little town in Idaho. Everybody noticed us at church right away. I think I would like to live in a small town but I don't want to live too far from a bigger town. I just want a big yard without neighbors too close.

Well, since we have been home Samantha's fever has gone back up and Cassandra and I have been coughing. I don't think our little train ride and trip helped us much to get better. We had fun though. I have been to Idaho several times and Felipe has been there once before but the kids were very excited to see Idaho for the first time. They love visiting new states and taking little trips.
